On the 22nd of November, Marsden went to a video conference (For Good Measure: Fun with Measurement and Standards Session). It was held in our Tilt Room (Computer Room). It was held by the Powerhouse Museum. Mr. Matthew Connell guided us through the video conference.

| First, we were discussing units of measure from the past and present. We were asked some questions about units of measure. We saw some of the instruments that the Government used in New South Wales in the early 1800's. We had never heard of things like 'Jills' for measuring. They are smaller than a 'Pint' and bigger than a 'Jack'. We saw a yard stick, too. The fancy jugs at the front were Gallons, Half Gallons, Quarts, Pints and Jills. Mr Connell had to wear gloves all of the time that he was handling the instruments because the oil on his hands could damage the historical measuring tools. |
| On the first activity, we were given a strip of paper to decide with a partner who would make the strip into quarters or fifths. There was another activity that involved paper.

In a group of three, we had to pick someone in the group to trace the foot and hand. It had to be the same person. We discovered that everyone can fit 3 1/2 of their hands (sideways) into one foot, and everyone can fit their thumb 4 times into the width of their hand. |
| The last activity we did was measure the room we were in with Aditya. We did this by laying Aditya on the floor and seeing how many Aditya's could fit the length of the floor. We found out that about 4 Aditya's could fit the length of the floor. Mr. Matthew Connell said that if Aditya grew, the measurement would have to change so this type of measurement isn't really accurate. |
